SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Today, the Utah GOP encouraged Republicans across the state to participate in the upcoming Republican Caucus scheduled for March 5, 2024, from 7 PM to 9 PM. The Utah GOP also released key details for voters wishing to participate in the caucus either in person or via absentee ballot.

“The Utah GOP encourages all registered Republicans to have their voices heard in selecting their preferred presidential candidate, state and county delegates, as well as local precinct officers by participating in the upcoming caucus night,” said Utah GOP Chairman Robert Axson. “Our party has invested a historic amount of money into advertising to promote caucus participation. The party aims to make the caucus process accessible and straightforward for all eligible voters, whether they choose to participate in person or absentee. We want to thank the thousands of people who have already pre-registered for the upcoming caucus night, demonstrating a strong interest and commitment to participating in the political process. These early registrations indicate a high level of engagement and enthusiasm within the Republican community,” Axson continued.

  • Caucus Date & Time: March 5, 2024, from 7 PM to 9 PM (Check-in begins at 6:00 PM)
  • Caucus Locations: Voters can find their precinct / caucus location online at https://precinctportal.org/precinct/
  • Who May Participate: Anyone wishing to participate in the caucus must be a registered Republican in the State of Utah (required). To confirm a voter registration status, people are encouraged to visit https://votesearch.utah.gov/voter-search/search/search-by-voter/voter-info.
  • Caucus Pre-Registration: Caucus pre-registration is required for absentee voters (must also already be registered Republican). Caucus pre-registration encouraged for in-person voters. Pre-registration will help expedite the check-in process for in-person voters. Pre-registration for both in-person and absentee voters may be completed online at https://legacy.utgop.org/.
  • Caucus Registration & Check In: Check-in will open at 6:00 PM. Voters are encouraged to arrive early so that the caucus process may begin promptly at 7:00 PM.
  • Absentee Voting: Absentee voting is available for individuals with scheduling conflicts, physical disabilities, or those overseas under the UOCAVA process. Upon pre-registration, absentee voters will receive via email two ballots: (1) an absentee presidential preference poll ballot and (2) a ballot to vote for delegates and precinct leadership. Absentee voters must print out their ballots, fill them out, and drop them off in person at the precinct caucus location. They must also bring a valid government-issued ID. If the absentee voter is unable to deliver the ballot(s) themselves, the absentee voter may give their ballot(s) to a neighbor, family member, or precinct host to bring on the voter’s behalf. If giving their ballot to someone else, the absentee voter must provide a photocopy of their valid government-issued ID, such as a Utah Driver’s License, along with their ballot(s).
  • Counting Process: Presidential absentee ballots will be counted at the same time as in-person ballots, at the end of caucus (no earlier than 8pm). Absentee voters are encouraged to ensure that their ballots are sealed in an envelope with their signature on the back.
